Of particular interest are the plans and proposals for the 2011 Winter Deaflympics, to be held in Vysoke Tatry, Slovakia. This event, which would have been the 17th Winter Deaflympics, was canceled, and no event was held that year. The actual 17th Winter Deaflympics was held in Russia in 2015.
