Series 1: Correspondence, 1940 - 1946
Scope and Contents
Anderson’s correspondence as NAD president. Most of the correspondence is with various influential figures in the deaf community, including Benjamin Schowe Sr., George Kannapell, Byron B. Burnes, Wesley Lauritsen, Winfield Runde, and others. There are also some questionnaires and other material sent by the NAD to the presidents of regional deaf organizations. The letters reflect Anderson’s attempts to reorganize and revitalize the NAD, which had fallen into decline as older deaf leaders left without younger men and women to take their place. It also deals with challenges such as that posed by the AFPH.
