Scope and Contents
The Edward Miner Gallaudet Presidential Correspondence is a collection of letters written to Edward Miner Gallaudet during his term as president of what was formerly called the Columbia Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, and later Gallaudet College. It includes letters from students, faculty, families, businesses, and a variety of leading figures in the deaf community from this era. It also includes the original handwritten manuscript of Gallaudet's "History of the College for the Deaf 1857-1907." The letters are arranged chronologically by year.
