The Papers consists of 3 boxes of documents acquired during Robert L. Bates’ tenure with the Alexandria-Potomac Lions Club. Documents range from correspondences, club membership and officers lists, board meeting minutes, manuscripts, newsletters, and general club operation guidelines. The majority of content in the collection is comprised of membership lists, Membership and Activities Reports, and Lions Club newsletters. The Strength of the collection is the Monthly Membership and Activities Reports. In these reports new and dropped members are listed, as well as the actions of the club on a month-by-month basis from 1976-1986. Also included in the collection are 30 negatives and 17 loose photographs of club banquets. The photographs, however, are not labeled.
