Other CISS minutes, 1928 - 1955
Scope and Contents
This series consists of minutes from various departments in CISS and related groups, excluding minutes from CISS’s biannual congresses, which are in series 1. Agendas, correspondence, and other items related to the minutes are also included.
About half this series is made up of minutes from CISS’s executive committee and other committees, such as those overseeing specific sports and events. Much of the rest consists of minutes from the International Coordinating Committee of Sports for the Disabled (ICC) and its successor organization, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). These minutes help document CISS’s frequently difficult relationship with these groups. Also present are some minutes from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), including minutes from the 1955 session where IOC president Avery Brundage formally noted the IOC’s intention to recognize CISS as the supreme governing body of deaf sports.
This series also includes a small selection of minutes from various regional deaf athletic associations.
Arranged by department.
