From the Collection:

This collection of records from the American Association to Promote the Teaching of Speech to the Deaf contains personal records of those who applied for teaching certificates.

The Volta Bureau, under the direction of the Association, issued three types of certificates:

Collegiate Registration Certified Registration Standard Registration The files in this collection contain application forms for specified certificates, correspondence between the applicant and the Volta Bureau, credentials, and transcripts concerning the applicant.

The collection is arranged alphabetically by the applicant’s name and it contains 146 folders in 6 boxes and approximately 5,100 entries.

The materials are dated from 1929 – 1935, with bulk dates between 1931 – 1933.
