Olof Hanson (1862 -1933) was a Deaf architect and clergyman. Olof designed several buildings at some schools for the deaf and one building at Gallaudet University. Olof was the 8th President of the National Association of the Deaf from 1910 to 1913.

Abstract Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (since 1820) was a residential school for the deaf in Philadelphia. It was founded by David Seixas and the school began in his private home. Laurent Clerc served briefly as principal at the school. In 1825, the school moved to its first school building at the corner of Broad and Pine Streets.
